Things We Can Do Even Though We're Girls

"That's not very lady-like."

"A woman should not be doing that."

"You throw like a girl!"

Ladies, we have all heard things like this once or twice before in our life. This is subtle sexism, and it is very real in today's society. Subtle sexism is not always recognized, even though it seems to happen to us on nearly a daily basis.

No matter what society tells you, these are things you can do... even though you're a girl.

1. Play video games

Yes, we can just be as good as any other boy in Call of Duty; and no, we won't do it just to impress boys. Some of us actually like playing video games.

2. Be good at math

And we can even use our math skills to be engineers, too.

3. Aggressive and forward

Not all women have a passive and calm personality. If you irk us, we do have the ability to fight back full fire... so, watch out.

4. Use tools

We can use a screw driver or a hammer. We know how to hit the nail on the head.

5. Cut the grass

Seriously, why is this mainly a guy thing? You mow that lawn, girl.

6. Eat... a ton

Why, yes, I will have a double cheeseburger with extra bacon. Also, can I have a milkshake to go with it?

7. Work a full time job... and be a mom

If dad's can do it... why can't we? We'll work our butt off Monday through Friday and love our children each and every minute.

8. Fix a flat tire

Show us the ropes and we'll fix that tire all by our self.

9. Pay for a date

We can buy the movie tickets or pay for dinner instead of relying on our boyfriend's wallet.

10. Be Independent

Watch us buy our own house, have a full time job, and live a satisfying, independent life.

If a man says you can't do something "because you're a girl," do it anyway and show them what you're really made of.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
