Everyone has experienced the painful feeling of being lonely. Having no friends at school, not having anyone to go to the dance with, or just being by yourself all the time. No one likes that feeling at all, and what makes it worse is that it feels as though the world is against you and you feel helpless or yet, insignificant. Whatever the reason may be, feeling lonely sucks, but it is important to remember that you are not alone and although it may feel that way, better days are coming. Here are some things to remember when the average person feels lonely.

One major thing to remember when you feel lonely is that nothing lasts forever, especially hardships. The pain and the loneliness you are feeling does not compare to the joy and happiness that is coming (Romans 8:18). Yes, it may seem as though there is no way out and that everything seems to be against you, but it is not your final destination. The emptiness and loneliness you feel is only temporary and will not destroy you. There will be brighter days and in the end it will all work out for itself.

Another thing to remember is that if you are alone for a while, it is probably God setting you a part from everyone else so that He can give you a major blessing. A blessing that everyone around you will not even come close to understand. Being alone means time for you. It is okay to be by yourself. After all, it is the best company. Get yourself right. Understand yourself. Love yourself. Know what you want and where you want to go during this time.

Lastly, if you ever feel lonely and you feel like no one wants to be around you or you have no friends, remember that you are a smart, beautiful, sophisticated individual who deserves the world. And if the world does not know this, then you need to let them know. You do this by smiling every day, doing you, and doing you well. The world may not be ready for what you have to have offer and that is okay. Give the world your best anyway and do this in faith. It is not going to be easy, but in the end you will blossom into a beautiful person and the world will admire you. Keep your head up and make people question how you are doing it. Eventually, they will want to know your secret.

Being lonely is not the most amazing thing in the world, no one wants to be lonely. But if you keep your head up, keep smiling, and keep moving forward, there will be better days. Being lonely is temporary, but being happy is forever. Keep doing you and let them know. Relax, it is only a short period of time, it will not last forever. You will survive.

Stay golden.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
