It's about that time again. Finals are just around the corner, and stress levels are rising. While test scores, finals, and grades are all important, there are a few crucial things to remember when enduring the intense and stressful time called finals week. Stop, take a deep breath, and know that you will survive. You can do this.
1. Grades don't define you as a person
Never put your self-worth in your grades. Your grades truly don't define you. They don't make you more or less worthy. Your grade point average isn't indicative of who you are as a person. Never forget that.
2. Stress can be your friend
Everyone seems to fear stress, but in reality, stress pushes you to do your best. Stress is a reminder that something important is coming up. Use your stress to your advantage. Think of stress as an energy boost, a tool that will help you knock through those finals. Half of our stress is stress about being stressed. It's simple, stop stressing about being stressed.
3. It's only one week of your life
This week will be over before you know it. Don't get too overwhelmed, there's not enough time for that. Pretty soon, you won't even remember why you were freaking out.
4. Your best is your best
It's as simple as that. Try your best and leave at that. If you do your best you won't be disappointed, because it is impossible to do any better than your best. Give it your all and accept your best for what it is.
5. Take study breaks
It's important to stop and give your brain a break. Remember quality studying is more important that quantity studying.
6. Confidence is half the battle
You can do anything you believe you can do. Knowledge is only part of the test-taking process. Don't second guess yourself and go rock those finals.
