I know we are all experiencing the stress that comes with the end of the year, and that is why it is so important to take a second to step back and breathe. School is important, but your mental and physical health still take precedence.
1. It is OK to be stressed, just know your limits
I know it’s impossible to avoid stress. We can find it at every turn. Between finals, finding a summer job, and those pesky term papers that they have been telling us about for the whole semester…but are finally due, it’s impossible to find rest. But you have to know when to put the textbook or laptop away and do something you enjoy. Take a break, even if just for a few minutes!
2. Find something to take your mind off of it
For me, I go to the gym to release my stress. But whether it is running, or reading, find something that distracts you from reality for a little bit so you can mentally regroup.
3. Don't push your friends away
It is easy to get so caught up in all of your work that you realize you haven’t had human interaction in three days. Get outside and do something with your friends. Go for a hike, walk your dog, or grab ice cream! Your friends are just as busy as you, so it is important that you protect not only yourself, but your friends as well.
5. Don't stay in your room
I know it is the most comfortable place to study, but a change of scenery is nice. Go to the local park or the library to study. After a while, even your room can get monotonous. You will get a better quality study session if you get out and change it up.
5. Just remember that we will get through this
It may seem like the weeks are never ending, and that you are drowning in all of your work. But just remember that no matter what happens, it will pass. Your exams will come and go, and all you can do is to prepare as well as you can. I believe in you. Keep your head up and conquer those exams!!
