7 Things I Plan To Fulfill This Semester, For Real This Time

Making bloody moves this spring, no matter what.

7 Things I Plan To Fulfill This Semester, For Real This Time

Towson really stretched the duration of winter break to the point that I had almost forgotten how to pick up a pen and write (legibly, at least), but I won’t put a question mark where God puts a period. It was a good break, to say the least. I got a chance to visit my good friend in Nashville, landed a summer internship, and SLEPT… a lot. Winter break gave me the opportunity to get myself together and prepare for the upcoming and more challenging semester. I came up with 7 things I plan on achieving this semester, for real this time. What's on your list?

1. Remind myself of who I am every morning

Waking up in the morning is a struggle sometimes. I'm not even close to having the confidence I've always wanted. No more morning contemplations of whether my pink shirt is the right shade to match my pants. I'm being confident this semester and when I don’t feel it, I will continue to remind myself that I am THAT. CHICK. We're speaking things into EXISTENCE this semester. Okurr?

2. Office hours

For some reason, visiting my professors used to be a struggle for me. You can call it laziness if you’d like. We're changing this habit for the semester. I'm going to show my beautiful face, say hello and introduce myself.

Sadly, it took me until now to realize these professors are being paid to teach and develop relationships with their students. No more wasting money for me (and my mother). It's 4.0 season. I'm asking all of the dumb questions to get the A that I know I deserve.

3. Exercise

I don't even think it's a secret to most people who know me that I am one lazy 20-year-old lady. It's remarkable. But just like with my academics, I'm getting my physical health in order as well.

I'm going to try reaaallly hard to work out at least 3-4 times a week. Whether it be some crunches in my apartment, running on the treadmill, or going to a yoga class, I'm going to get right. Drink way more water. Eat more veggies. Summer is right around the corner.

4. Cook

I don't know if it's a good or bad idea that I changed my meal plan to 100 meals and 75 points. You never really know what to expect from Towson's food, and I got sick a couple of times. I figured to save money and my own life, why not start cooking for myself instead of betraying my stomach?

5. Stop complaining

I'm a Leo. Every now and again I get a little irritated when things don't go my way. That's cool. I recognize that.

It gets old, though, when every little thing goes wrong and I begin to complain about it. Letting minuscule issues get in the way of my happiness is not the move for the semester, 2019, and even beyond. Life is way too short, and I don't have time to let people and unfortunate situations impede on my journey to success. From now on, I'm just letting go. Take things as they are, adapt, and maybe even find a silver lining in the situation. Road rage may take some time, though…

6. Making more friends and building upon the friendships I already have

Making long-lasting friendships hasn't been a walk in the park for me. Things are finally looking up for me and I'm excited to see how the friendships I've made just over the past year blossom into more special relationships.

I also want to form new relationships as well. Life is so much better and gets a little bit easier knowing you have people in your corner to cheer you on and lead you to greatness.

7. Using the planner

I don't know why I make things more stressful and difficult for myself. Honestly, I don't. I have a cart full of cute planners, Should I get the one with pink flamingos and palm trees on it, or should I go with a more sophisticated look? Let me know.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
