Don't Stop Being Creative When Quarantined, Catch Up On These 8 Things

I get it: we all are feeling bored during this time while also feeling super anxious. But this time is a good time to catch up on different things we love to do.

Like I stated before, this time can make everyone feel anxious because, honestly, none of us really know what's going on, what's going to happen, or how long this will last. Some of us are immune-compromised or have family we live with who are. The last thing we want to do is go out and catch it, or bring it home to our loved ones or really anyone.

So, yes, some people have to self-quarantine, even if they're not the ones it could hurt. This isn't a time to think just about yourself but about others, too. But while stuck inside, it can get really boring. Trust me, I know.

I wanted to give a list of some fun things to do while inside, some things that won't dim your creativity. This time is scary but can also be beneficial to us as well.

1. Journaling

Journaling is always a great way to pass time. Write down how you feel right now and your goals. What do you want to accomplish in the next few weeks or days?

2. Reading

Invest in a good book because we all don't get to read for fun as much anymore.

3. Watch TV or movies.

Catch up on Netflix shows you didn't have the time to because of school and work.

4. Make string bracelets.

It has been years since I've made one, but it's really fun. I can see why I loved them so much when I was younger.

5. Baking

Bake something you and your family love to make.

6. Coloring

Adult coloring books are so fun and really help you get your mind off of things.

7. Painting

Painting is so much fun. It really lets us express ourselves, and you don't just have to paint a picture. You can also paint things like cups, dishes, etc.

8. Catching up on schoolwork

Catching up on your goals and schoolwork isn't a bad thing, either. You have this time, so take advantage of it. Get ahead of the game, especially those college students who sadly have to take online classes for the rest of the semester.

Staying productive and creative during this time is essential for our health. Do something that makes you happy. Please stay healthy and wash your hands, and please remember, even if this virus doesn't hurt you, it could hurt someone you love.

So, please be mindful of your decisions, and pray for the world right now because everyone needs it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
