North Carolina is home to many wonderful activities. What if you live in the Triangle? If you live in Chapel Hill, Durham, or Raleigh I have the perfect list of things to do. You can do these things when you're bored, for a fun day, or for a date. All are awesome and must do's if you live or visit the Triangle!

1. Jump around at Defy Gravity

Defy Gravity is an intense indoor trampoline park. They have a foam pit and the entire floor is trampoline. You can even play dodge ball or basketball on the trampolines. The staff can teach you some awesome tricks, but make sure to follow their rules.

2. Walk around Duke Gardens

Duke Gardens is breath taking. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and it is huge. The flowers and plants are colorful and full of life. You can go on a picnic there, go on a date, play some Frisbee or walk around.

3. Go to Concerts

During the summer The Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion is packed. It is an outdoor stage. They have hundreds of bands come and play during the summer months. It is perfect on a cool summer night to jam to some of your favorite music with a loved one or a group of friends.

4.Cheer on the Durham Bulls

Going to a Durham Bulls Baseball games are really fun. Go to a restaurant before hand then grab a soda and some popcorn and watch the game and cheer on the Bulls. It is fun to do with your friends, family, or even your coworkers.

5. Food Truck Rodeo

All these different food trucks gather in a public place and you can go from truck to truck experiencing different foods. Grab a picnic blanket and lots of money and try new things. The food is fantastic.

6. Drink, Drink, Drink

If you’re of the legal age, going downtown Raleigh to drink some beer is a good choice. The selection of beer is crazy in Raleigh. You can also do the Trolley Pub. You pedal your way through Raleigh while drinking! That is a must do.

7. Enjoy a show at the DPAC

The DPAC always has musical guests or Broadway performances going on. You can always find something good there. Before or after the show you should grab a bite. The food is phenomenal in downtown Durham. You cannot go wrong.

8. Walk around a campus

The atmosphere is crazy. You can walk around Duke University, UNC, or NC State. Each campus has an enormous amount of spirit and rivalry. Each campus has beautiful buildings to admire.

9. Shop till you drop

There are some good shopping malls in the area. Southpoint Mall has a great variety of shopping and eating. The mall is indoor and outdoor making it that much bigger. Crabtree Valley is also a huge mall with tons of shopping options for everyone in your group.

10. Enjoy a meal

Durham and Raleigh are probably the best places to go out to eat. Instead of a chain try going for some local places. Try places like The Pit, The Mason Jar Tavern, Elmo’s, Cowfish, Angus Barn, Tobacco Road, Kanki, Dame’s Chicken and Waffles, and many more.

11. Adventure is out there

For those who like an adventure, go for a canoe or kayak ride on Lake Michie. It can be a cool date idea and is totally different than any other.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
