Being late. It is probably my worst quality. I am completely aware of it and I wish it wasn’t true. I try and try to change it, but it is just part of who I am. Ask for one word to describe me. You guessed it. Late. I know I am not alone on this, so here are a few scenarios you might be able to relate to if you are always the late friend.
“I made sure to tell you it was half an hour early, so you’d actually show up on time.”
A few quotes from my friends…I hear these 24/7. “The question wasn’t if you were gonna be late. It was how late you were gonna be.” “You’re late again….but your hair looks good.”
*Gets four texts in a row of someone wondering where you are.*
Late means everyone is wondering where you are, so it is inevitable that this is going to happen.
You have to be somewhere at 8 a.m. and you’re still in bed at 7:50.
Mornings are the worst and they always lead to me being late for something.
Any thing that could make you even more late happens.
You can’t find your keys. You can’t find an outfit to wear, You need someone to move their car for you to get out of the driveway. There’s a wreck on the highway. Everything that could go wrong is and the issues continue to pile up, one after the other.
Every minute seems like an hour.
You’re five minutes late and you feel like you missed everything. You’re still driving in the car and as you drive, you are just counting down the minutes to when you have to be there, knowing that you are not going to arrive on time.
Everyone is sitting around waiting for you to finally get in the car.
I get this all the time. I am quickly finishing getting ready and I hear from down the stairs, “I’ll be in the car.”
You always felt like you had plenty of time to get ready.
In all reality though, you didn’t and when you finally leave a half hour late you’re still not ready. Then, you need to contemplate every move you made to figure out what made you late and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
You always tell yourself you’re going to be ready on time the next time.
It’ll never, but here’s to an unwavering hope. I am hoping the works, honestly.
It is just an unavoidable mishap. I know the early bird get the worm, but I have never gotten the worm. The clock spins and spins. Time seems to move much quicker when I have to be somewhere important. I am thankful for patient friends and family. You are the real MVP’s in my life. I probably wouldn’t make it to where I need to be without you. I will try to pick up the pace for all of you, but no promises. There’s no telling when I could be stuck behind a tractor again, so please bare with me.
