I am an only child. Sure, it was all right. I always had my parents' attention, and I never had to share a room with anyone -- but I always felt like I was missing something. I sometimes grew tired of playing alone. There are some experiences and questions that we only children do get tired of.
1. When you meet someone new and they ask you about your siblings:
I do not have any. *shrugs*
2. "OMG, so you're an only child?"
That's generally what it means when a person doesn't have siblings.
3. "I bet you're like really spoiled."
Ha. No... well, maybe a little.
4. "I couldn't imagine not having my sister/brother(s)."
It's a good thing you're not an only child then.
5. "Did you get lonely as a child?"
Who needs siblings when I have me?
6. Wishing you had a sibling when your parents were getting mad at you:
Someone to share the blame with would be nice.
7. Getting lost in a sea of toys:
Barbies accumulated because there was an endless amount of space for them.
8. Not having to wonder if you're the favorite child:
I'm the only child, so of course I'm the favorite.
9. No sibling fights.
There's nothing like the peace and quiet of not arguing with a sibling.
10. Your cousins are like your siblings.
Especially if they are only children, too.
11. Being secretly jealous of your friends with siblings:
You can't deny that you've always wanted to know what it would be like to have a sibling.
