7 Things Texas Has That the Rest of the U.S. Needs To Get On Board With

Things Texans Take For Granted
The Constant Rambler

Texans are spoiled with these things and don't even realize how lucky they are! I have only encountered these wonderful things in Texas, so let me showcase them for you.

1. Chicken Spaghetti

I have never heard of this until a Texan family was nice enough to introduce me to the love of my life, and it was love at first bite. I wasn't going to lie, I was scared at first, but it is just so perfect.

2. SWEET Iced tea

If you're in another Southern state, you are probably going "Yeah, well we have sweet tea too." And you probably do. I have had sweet tea outside of Texas, but Texans love their sugar! Texas has super SWEET iced tea! It will become a new craving of yours.

3. Salsa on your eggs

The salsa really steps up your omelet game. Whenever I'm outside of Texas and having breakfast at a restaurant, I'll ask for salsa with my eggs, and 9 times out of 10, the waitress will look at me like I have demanded her first born.

4. Breakfast tacos

Other states do have breakfast tacos but they are a lot more popular here in Texas. Most places that serves breakfast will offer some version of this.

5. "Bless your heart"

In other places I have actually heard it used in forms of prayer and as a well meaning wish for you. In Texas, if someone says this to you, they really mean "You are so stupid, you really need some sort of miracle to make it in life." (Took me a while to figure this one out.)

6. Buc-ee's

This is such a fun store. It is like a Texan Central Market. They have really cool products and some great homemade items that are made in store.

7. Texas Shaped everything

I never forget I'm in Texas because everything shaped like Texas reminds me of where I am. Waffle makers in hotels make your waffles in the shape of Texas, my parking pass from my university is in the shape of Texas, I just went to a store and saw a Texas shaped cutting board. They won't let you forget where you are.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
