When my parents told me that I was going to a big sister my first thought was I wanted my new sibling to be a girl. But months later when I was told that I was having a baby brother, I had to quickly get over that desire. I immediately started looking on the bright side and got excited about having a brother.
One of the first perks of having a brother instead of a sister that I thought of was I would not have to worry about arguments about sharing or borrowing each others stuff. I had heard plenty of stories about sisters taking each other's things without asking. I thought I would have it easier because he would never want to borrow my clothes or makeup and I would never want to borrow any of his stuff.
As we got older, I realized that is definitely not the case.
Sometimes I do take his things and sometimes he takes my stuff. Just because he is not interested in makeup and perfume like I am, we still are able to find things of each other's to borrow without asking at times.
1. Shoes
Okay, I will admit this one is mostly me. He would never want to borrow any of my shoes but occasionally I take his.
2. T-shirts
For some reason, some of my UVA t-shirts have magically found their way into his closet.
3. Headphones
Headphones are always something that we take from each other because we can never keep track of them.
4. Phone chargers
If I cannot find my phone charger in my room that most likely means my brother took it.
5. The front seat in the car
Ever since my brother became old enough to sit in the front seat there has been some debate about who sits where in the car.
6. Jackets
Typically we don't purposefully wear each other's jackets but I won't lie, one time I accidentally wore my brother's jacket to school. We both have black Northface jackets that look really similar and we both have gone out the house wearing each other's jackets instead of our own.
7. Food
We are always taking each other's food. Whether it is leftovers, ice cream, or pizza, it is all up for grabs when you are siblings!
