All Of The Things You Should Have Been Told Before Now

Because everyone says you should have known something but no one told you.

We see lists and hear things mentioned all of the time about things someone wishes they would have known or are glad they learned before a certain time. I'll admit, because of those I've learned some pretty valuable information but what about all of the things people don't mention? What about practical things parents should teach their children but in the midst of everything it just doesn't get taught or it gets taught and it doesn't stick? Life happens but don't miss out on these lessons.

1. Brush AND floss your teeth.

E V E R Y O N E hates flossing, but what do people hate more than flossing? Leaving the dentist with a sore mouth. The more you prepare your mouth for the dentist the less it will hurt when you leave.

2. Stuff people say doesn't always have to do with you.

This can be summed up as - mind your own business. Unless it is said directly to you or about you, leave it alone.

3. It is okay to cut people out of your life.

If you and your preschool best friend don't get along or even you and your roommate it is okay to find a new friend and it is more than okay to find a new roommate.

4. Just because you saw them in Sunday school doesn't mean you have to talk to them.

You have seen them max two times in your life, you do not have to say hey to them when you see them at Walmart.

5. Other people hating something does not mean you have to hate it too.

People are going to give you crap for liking what you like, no matter what. Don't feel bad for your own opinions.

6. Avoid drinking sodas without a meal.

They're not great for you at any time, but ya know sometimes you just need a Dr. Pepper. If you're going to drink a soda it's best to do it at a meal so they junk isn't just soaking up in your mouth.

7. Eat your veggies.

Everyone loves fruits and always forgets the veggies. Try a vegetable, literally any vegetable, with ranch dressing and if you like that stick with it just try to get in some everyday.

8. Wash your face.

Morning and night is ideal, but either one works. Washing your face will help keep it healthy and young and it will make you feel so much better.

9. Don't live your life on social media.

It's okay not to post every day or even every week. The people who want to keep up with you will talk to you and you will talk to the people you want to keep up with.

10. A phone does work both ways, but it doesn't have to.

Reach out to people if you want to talk to them, but if not don't reach out to people and the same will go for them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
