Ah yes, Spring Break. A week of relaxation. An entire seven days empty of classes, responsibilities, and waking up early. Many of us chose to buy tickets for wild tropical cruises. Everyone else chose to go home and appreciate the simple notion of being fed every single day by a loving parent. Those of us who went home had a plan on how to spend spring break. Whether it be by tanning every single day or doing work, by the end of the week we had accomplished very little. Here's a list of things you said you would do, that you never got around to.
Get ahead in your online class. It's the middle of the semester. Logically, you should be halfway done with your online class. But somehow, you have yet to take the first of six tests. With less than two months left of class, maybe it's to crack open your e-book and read Chapter 1. At least that was the plan until you got distracted. Now break is over, you haven't logged into Canvas all week, and you have had to reschedule your tests on Proctor-U. Nice job.
Visit high school friends. Out of all the people you met in high school, you only kept in touch with a few precious people. The last time you saw these gems was winter break, and after a month and a half of college, it's time to see them again. It's time to trade stories and relive the glory days of high school. Hey, maybe you'll even go visit your old school with them. Or maybe you won't because you're still traumatized from walking its halls. But with the break comes the laziness, “I'll text them tomorrow," you say to yourself as you go to sleep every night. Some of us are bad friends and don't make any effort. But really, you make exceptions for the friends that were there for you for four straight years of high school drama.
Get tan. Unless you went on a cruise, chances are you stayed inside all of break. Yeah, you wanted to tan. But you also wanted to sleep in until 4 p.m. when most of the sunshine is gone. Honestly, you are really bad at planning. Next break, set an alarm.
Finish Friends on Netflix. Or really any show that you've started. Don't lie. You've seen the first few episodes of tons of shows on Netflix, but you just haven't been ready to commit. Granted, it's hard to get obsessed with shows that have hour long episodes, and it's even harder when twenty-minute shows have ten seasons. So you made a promise to yourself to choose one, and finish it during break. Of course, that did not happen because of your commitment issues. See a therapist.
Just like during school, you managed to procrastinate from your goals yet again. It's okay though. summer is coming up. That gives you a full two months to not only completely forget everything you learned this year, but also to fool yourself into thinking that you'll be more responsible next school year.
