1. Pain is temporary...GPA is forever.

College is hard and finals week is the most stressful time of the semester for students. During this time, it is important to remember that the outcome is so much better than what you are going through right now. Therefore, study and focus on school because it will be over before you know it and you do not want to regret anything.

2. Free food.

During finals week, there are endless possibilities for free food, activities, etc. These activities are a great way to get involved on campus and save money. If you go to College of Charleston, there are many planned events such as free yoga, free Chick-Fil-A and even a stress relief puppy fair (you can bet your butt I’ll be there). At the end of the semester, every college student is broke. It's the perfect time to take advantage of these many free and fun opportunities.

3. You are lucky to be in college in the first place.

About 70% of the U.S. population does not have a college degree. Therefore, you are extremely lucky to be attending college in the first place. Take advantage of it, get good grades and obtain that degree so that you can get a good job. Do not throw a great opportunity away just because you are stressed out.

4. Complaining isn't going to help.

Despite popular belief, complaining about finals will not help you at all. If anything, it will only effect your grade and health negatively. Just try your best to stay positive and you will do better than you think. I promise.

5. Not all of your grades define you.

College lasts four (or more) years. Making one bad grade is not going to ruin the rest of your college experience. You probably have many more classes and semesters to bring up your GPA. If you don’t feel so great about one of your finals, no worries: you more than likely have plenty of time to make up for it.

6. CHRISTMAS TIME!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Just remember: once you are done with finals you have a break for almost a whole month! That's one whole month of not having to stress about school work. A whole month of laying on the couch, drinking hot chocolate and watching Elf. If you can make it through this week, then you are just one step closer to Santa Claus coming down your chimney. You can do it!

7. Ryan Gosling

Oh and here is just a little motivation from Ryan Gosling himself. You’re welcome.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
