I recently turned 29 a little over a month ago. It has brought up a lot of thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It can be a somewhat awkward age to be, as I am finding out. I am only going to list 29 of those feelings because I am writing an article not a novel.

1. You realize that just being alive gets increasingly expensive the older you get.
2. Certain food and drink combinations will wreak havoc on one’s digestive system.
3. Unhealthy eating habits, in general, are more likely to wreak havoc on one's digestive system.

4. Twenty-nine is considered to be full-on late-twenties, and not mid to late twenties.

5. You may get upset or confused when you purchase age-restricted products without being asked to show your identification.

6. You start to realize it is more fun (and less expensive) to stay in rather than go out.

7. You realize how much of a joke health insurance is once you age off of your parent’s insurance plan. $20 copays easily turn into copays exceeding $100 for one visit.

8. Cell phone plans are also more expensive once you are on your own plan.

9. Your social media feed becomes increasingly flooded with engagements, weddings, and children.

10. Recovering from a night of heavy drinking takes days, not hours.

11. People will ask you (if they have not already) when you are going to get a significant other, get married, have kids, etc.

12. You do a considerable amount of comparing and contrasting of people your age in their successes and not so successes.

13. You realize that while you can certainly be in a “better” place in your life, you also can certainly be in a “worse” situation as well.

14. All-nighters are becoming a thing of the past if they have not already.

15. Regular medical checkups also become more vital, and you have to make those appointments yourself.

16. You realize how “old” you are when you are hanging around a bunch of people in their early twenties.

17. You often talk about how different things were when you were in grade school.

18. You realize that not only are you growing older, so are your parents.

19. You start to think about saving for retirement if you have not already.

20. You realize that quality is more important than quality, especially with friends.

21. You generally give less of a damn about petty things.

22. You question the choices you made when you were in your early twenties.

23. Your idea of a "vacation" may now simply constitute lounging in your bed watching Netflix of Hulu all day.

24. Stress takes a bigger toll on your body and overall health.

25. Comfort takes a bigger priority in your choice of clothing.

26. You have probably heard the phrase “age is just a number” more than thirty times.

27. You may have people saying that you are “too old” for certain things like playing video games.

28. Thirty may feel like an unofficial deadline age where you need to have certain things accomplished by.

29. This is the last year of your twenties. 365 (or 366) days and counting down. Tick tock.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
