Summer will always end sooner than you think and people often don't follow through on their summer bucket lists. However, there are always simple things you can do to keep yourself busy and entertained that don't require much thought, you just do them. You have an abundance of time to yourself if you wish so find a new perspective, think as much as you want or not at all, do anything you can that will mend the stress from the school year. Here are some little things you can do this summer.
1. Read more books.
Maybe when you began college, you lost your interest in books. Summer vacation is the perfect time to finally begin a book you've been meaning to read.
2. Make a new recipe.
I know I'm not the only one that scrolls through Facebook just to watch the "How To" cooking recipe videos. They look delicious, try making one.
3. Work. Work. Work.
Summer is the opportunity to make as much $ as possible. Get a fun summer job, and save up for something. Even try two jobs, it will be worth it in the long run.
4. Plan a trip.
Have something to look forward to before starting another semester of school work, travel with your friends somewhere you've always thought about going.
5. Write.
It's a perfect distraction, and it feels good to let what you're thinking out onto paper instead of bottled up in your head.
6. Try being healthier.
This is when you have time to exercise how you want and eat healthier before you're crammed with six subjects to study for and eating the food from d-hall. Make a plan or do little things to become healthier, you'll feel better and it will improve your mood.
7. Arts and crafts.
You are never too old to begin a new craft project. Make something for your friends or decor for your dorm. It's often a productive therapy, as well.
8. Research ahead for anything you'll need to know for the fall semester.
Maybe you're taking a hard class, or planning on studying abroad in the fall, do some research so you're prepared, it might even be interesting.
9. Make memories.
Spend quality time with your friends and family, you might not remember what it's like to miss them now but you will.
10. Go new places in your city.
I know I haven't seen everything there is to see in Syracuse; venture off to new places and get lost. Find some art, or a cute coffee shop, order a new drink and drive with the windows down. These are moments where you just need to live.
11. Go to a concert.
Maybe it's not usually your thing, but new music and a new environment creates the best feeling. There are plenty of concerts to catch in the summer--country, rock or alternative, some are even free but they are all worth it.
Go ahead and start a new Netflix series too, hangout and relax, sleep in but remember summer is your time to do whatever you want without being stressed beyond belief. Make sure to keep yourself entertained and don't lose your motivation to do things.
