There's nothing better than having a close relationship with someone for YEARS. They are someone you can always confide in and trust. More importantly, you know that they will always be there to help pick up the pieces of your crazy life.

I've had the privilege of having the same best friend for a decade now, and there are just some things she knows that nobody else does. Whatever the situation may be, she has always had my back.

With that being said, here are six things that only my long-term best friend knows and most likely yours, too.

1. Memories that you have no recollection of

Whether it be an embarrassing story or a minute detail of your life, it's guaranteed that your long time BFF remembers events that even you have no recollection of. "Remember that one time you peed your pants at our sleepover in 3rd grade?" Nonetheless, if they said it happened, then it happened — even if you don't have any memory of it.

2. Your sense of humor

You guys just get each other because you've been best friends for years now. Your BFF will laugh at all your jokes, even ones that no one else finds funny, just because they totally understand your sense of humor (and probably because it's the same as yours, too). That silly meme on Instagram? Yep, you guys will be laughing at that for 15 minutes straight for absolutely no reason.

3. Every breakup story of yours, ever

From that stupid fight that you had with your boyfriend to your worst breakup yet, your long-term best friend literally knows everything that happened in all of your past and present relationships. At some point in your life, they were definitely your shoulder to cry on or the person that you could just vent to for hours.

4. Your deepest secrets

Maybe this sounds cliche, but they totally know things that you have never told anyone else. There seems to be some sort of unspoken BFF code between you two. You don't even have to tell them to keep things on the DL — your long-term best friend already knows not to tell a single soul.

5. How to keep it real with you

If you ever need a completely honest opinion, your long time BFF is the first person that you will go to. As part of your BFF code, you can always rely on your best friend to tell you the truth in any situation. "Yes, that shirt is absolutely hideous. Do. Not. Buy. It." And even though their judgment may be blunt, you know not to take any offense to it.

6. That you two will be best friends forever

From the time you both met on the playground at recess until now, your best friend has been there for you through it all. Although you may not see each other as often or talk as frequently as before, the dynamic really hasn't changed much between the both of you. No matter what, you know that they'll be your best friend for life. And they know that too. After all, that's part of your long-term BFF code.
