Lock Haven University — the small town university that provides education to merely 5,000 students. Located right next to the Susquehanna River, this university has a lot to offer. Whether it's a choice from a long list of majors and minors, a choice of sports, a choice of clubs or activities, there is something for everyone. Anyone can get information about the university right off of the website, but it's an experience in its own as soon as you get there. Here are 10 things only Lock Haven University students will understand:

1. Referring to Lock Haven as "The Haven"

Whether you're asked what school you attend by friends you haven't seen since high school or are tweeting during summer about missing the college life, we normally refer to it as "the Haven" because in all reality that's what it is — a safe haven where most feel security.

2. Quarters

The most important word to get you through a rough week, and no, I'm not talking about doing our laundry. Even though our feet stick to the ground when we walk in, we all enjoy quarter drafts at the Fallon every Thursday night!

3. Everyday is Leg Day

Stairs. Hills. More stairs. Who needs the rec when every day is leg day?

4. The struggle of eating Bentley every day freshman year

Freshman year...you gotta use those meal swipes, so where do you go? Bentley. Whether it's the struggle of shoving pizza down your throat every meal or having Thanksgiving every Wednesday, you'll instantly regret eating at Bentley 30 minutes after doing so — except on open house days when the food magically turns into the best college food you have ever eaten.

5. Chick-fil-A

The best idea the school has had in ages. Chick-fil-A is the go-to in lower. Having a rough day? Go get some nugs and some waffle fries, you'll be all right.

6. Finding bodies all over the 24-hour room during finals week

Walking through the 24-hour room during finals week is basically like walking through random students' bedrooms. You tired? Don't worry, just take a nap on the couch...the floor...wherever.

7. Texas

Only the best diner in town. Whether its grabbing lunch with your friends or breakfast to cure you Saturday morning after a long Friday night out, Texas is the place to go.

8.Fighting to get on the trolleys

When it's raining, cold, you have 15 minutes to get from east to the circle or you're just trying to avoid the stairs, the trolley is the way to go — but you better be the first one in line or start shoving if you want a spot.

9. Football?

We are most certainly not Penn State, and when we win, we may get overly excited because it rarely happens (for instance, ripping down the goal post). But we will still be there supporting our men from the sidelines.

10. It will always be remembered as "my home away from home"

The years spent at Lock Haven University have been some of the best years of my life. I will forever cherish the memories. and a piece of my heart will break the day I say goodbye and walk at graduation. The friendships that have been formed over the years have been indescribable, and not for one second will I regret choosing to attend the haven.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
