We have all tried soccer, softball, volleyball and basketball but nothing could compare to dancing. No matter what style of dance you do, we all know about the long hours, competitions, the makeup, stress and everything else that comes with it. So here is to the dancers, and all the "dancer problems" that we have.
1. When your dance teacher yells "one more time!"
We all know this actually means we are going to do it again, again and again until we get it right. As she says this, she knows she is lying and she isn't sorry. She also doesn't care that you may or may not be dying.
2. The awful moment when you have a shoe blowout.
Hard work and dedication was put into breaking those shoes in so when they bust and there is a huge hole in the bottom or on the side, you die a little.
3. Dance moms.
Thankfully, not all dance moms are like the ones on TLC. But, they will do anything in their power to make sure that their kid is the best of the best.
4. Stage makeup.
On stage, it looks fine. Up close, not so much. It's a little embarrassing when you go to a restaurant after a performance and people look at you like you're crazy.
5. When you have to do things on the left foot.
Whether it be toe pops or leaps, everything is fine and dandy when you learn things on your right foot, but as soon as your teacher tells you to try it on your left things go downhill quickly.
6. Hearing songs you used to dance to.
We all have experienced the moment when a song that you used to dance to comes on while you're in the grocery store. You literally cannot stop yourself from breaking it down in the middle of the isle.
7. "Dance is not a sport."
If you say this to a dancer, they will immediately hate you. It is really frustrating to hear this when so much hard work, blood, sweat and even tears are put into dancing.
8. Doing a move but injuring yourself in the process.
When you've done a certain dance move a million times you don't even second guess yourself. So, when you go to do a heel click you don't expect to come out of it with a huge gash on your ankle or when you do a leap and pull a muscle you didn't even know you had.
9. I have the urge to dance 24/7.
No matter where I am or what I am doing, I always want to break out and bust a move.
10. "I can't, I have dance."
Growing up, I didn't get to do a lot of things with people outside of school because I always had dance class. I basically lived at my studio. Which came in handy because I also used dance as my go-to excuse to not hang out with someone and it was completely believable.
