Coming into college, I would have never guessed just how many little things I missed from home. From my missing my brother and sister to just laying in my own bed, you really do realize that the little things are what matter the most. Whether you live 3 hours away or an hour away, everyone will eventually miss home just a little. Here are the top 10 things you miss from home when you are at school!

1. Your own bed.

No matter how hard you try, your school bed will never be as comfortable as your bed at home.

2. Your room.

Similarly to number one, your dorm room is just not as cozy as your bedroom. Also, while I ADORE my roommate to pieces (shoutout to her- love you roomie), there are some moments where I miss having my own room.

3. WiFi

At school, the WiFi is TERRIBLE so it is always nice coming home and not having to wait a million years for a page to load.

4. Free laundry.

Who would have thought that something so small could end up being expensive? Doing laundry at home is always nice since you don't have to worry about how much money you need to wash one load of clothing.

5. Private bathrooms.

Having a communal bathroom just isn't always ideal. At home at least you're sharing a bathroom with one or two people, or if you're lucky, no one.

6. Home-cooked meals.

Because dining hall food gets real old real fast.

7. Your pets.

Who doesn't miss their furry friends when they're at school!

8. Your friends from home.

Your home friends have a special place in your heart as you all watched each other grow into the person you are today.

9. Your siblings.

Whether younger or older, you have a connection with them that can never be beat. When you're at school, there are times where you just miss being around your siblings, making jokes, watching YouTube videos, or singing songs at the top of your lungs.

10. Your mom.

Because your mom is the best person out there.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
