Things I'll Miss About College Over the Summer

Things I'll Miss About College Over the Summer

With the semester ending in less than 3 weeks, it makes me reflect on this past year at college. It seems like yesterday I was packing up everything into boxes to move in and begin my first year, and now I can't believe I'm beginning to pack up everything into boxes to move out. There were some weeks that were beyond stressful and some that I formed the greatest memories during. I won't miss the homework, finals, midterms, exams, papers, labs, readings or group projects over the summer, but I will surely miss a lot of other things about college. Here they are:

1. Being With My Friends Constantly

I am with my friends the majority of the time here. Whether it's a late night McDonalds run or studying in the library until 1:00 in the morning, we are together. My group of friends and I have our own inside jokes, memories that make us laugh and smile, and we have been together through a lot. We have each other's backs and are each other's support system so not being able to see their beautiful faces every day is going to be a struggle.

2. Having Thousands of Food Options Available

Whether I am in the mood for a grilled cheese or a burrito, I have thousands of food options available to me almost 24/7. Whatever I am in the mood to eat, I can usually satisfy that craving. The best part is, MEAL SWIPES. I don't have to actually spend cash or credit! At home, I am limited to whatever food is in the fridge or I have to go out and actually pay real money.

3. My Sisters

This semester I became an official sister of Zeta Tau Alpha along side with 31 of my new sisters. Joining ZTA was one of the best decisions I have made and it will be the thing that I miss most over the summer. I've only been a part of the chapter for a short time, but I already love all my sisters and can't wait to see what is to come. Not being able to see my sisters each day and do fun things together over the summer will be hard, but I know I'll see them in a few short months.

4. Never Being Bored

If your school is anything like mine, you'll understand that there is always a bunch of things happening on campus. 25 cent wing night, free sundaes on Sunday, parties at the on-campus night club, parties, etc. There is always something to do, so sitting home during the summer and not being busy 24/7 is going to get boring.

5. The Faculty And Staff

Yes there are some professors that you can't stand and hate their class, but the majority of them really do care about their students. It's nice knowing your professor is actually invested in your future and having someone to talk to when you're struggling. The cleaning staff and dining staff here are so nice too. Having a conversation with them always puts a smile on my face and I'm going to miss that over the summer.

I can't believe that my first year of college will be over in 2.5 weeks and I could not be happier. Yes, there were struggles along the way, but my school has become my second home and my friends have become my second family. Good luck on finals everyone and I hope you all have a great summer!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
