I'd like to have my social life back, please and thank you.

10 Things I'd Rather Do Than Write A 20-Page Research Paper

Midterms are now behind me, but the work never ends. I am applying to the Psychology Honors Program and one of the requirements is a literature review paper that is at least 10 pages long.

When I first read this on the application, I thought to myself, "How hard could that be?" Well, past Gianna, it is VERY difficult. I'm taking a break from writing the paper to inform every one of the things in life that are more fun than writing a 20-page research paper. Here's what I'd rather do...

1. Go to Disney World

I'd rather go to Disney World to enjoy the child-like bliss of the magic Disney bestows upon us all. I am in desperate need of that care-free and whimsical atmosphere.

2. Go apple and pumpkin picking

My whole suite was trying to plan a trip to go apple and pumpkin picking together; however, it fell through because of our busy schedules. I would do anything to just dress in plaid, take basic fall photos, and post them on Instagram.

3. Plan my Halloween outfit

I still have no idea what I'm going to be for Halloween. Should I be something basic like a witch or a cat? Should I create a unique group costume with my friends? I haven't even had time to think this over.

4. Eat candy

I'm craving Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. And Butterfingers. And Heath Bars. And anything chocolate.

5. Facetime my family (especially my dog)

I always call my family, but I love to Facetime with them and (obviously) see their faces. I also LOVE to Facetime my dog since I can't talk to her on the phone. Her little face always brightens my stress-filled days.

6. Water my plants

I think that all of my plants are very dehydrated right now. I am a bad plant mother.

7. Vacuum the suite

I actually enjoy vacuuming and would love to just clean up the suite. Cleaning is better than writing research papers any day.

8. Spend more time with friends

All I've been doing lately is going to class, going to work, and doing homework. I'd also like to have my social life back, please and thank you.

9. Watch movies

Halloween movies are the best! I haven't watched one yet. "Hocus Pocus," "Halloweentown"... the options are limitless.

10. Sleep

A nice, long, 12-hour sleep would be ideal, but a nap will suffice. My body is craving sleep.

Please give me luck on finishing my research paper! Hopefully, you all can enjoy the things that I wish I was doing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
