7 Things Fraternal Twins Want You To Know

I am a fraternal twin, and I look nothing like my sister. Every single time we tell people we're twins, people just stare at us and tell us we're lying; but that is only one of the things we hear on a daily basis. We get the same questions all the time and some of them are pretty ridiculous, so here are the answers to those questions.

1. Yes, we are twins and yes we are sure that one of us isn't adopted.

Growing up, even when we were in kindergarten we got this question. It's so disrespectful. You're probably trying to be funny, but just know inside we most likely hate you.

2. Twin telepathy is not a thing.

We don't know what one another is thinking, we can't feel each other's pain.

3. We take how far apart we are seriously.

It sucks having to constantly explain to people that there's 19 minutes in between my sister and I because then they really think that we're lying.

4. Just because we're twins doesn't mean that our personalities are identical.

Just like any other siblings, we have our own interests, likes and dislikes and different friend groups. Having a twin isn't an automatic sentence that you have to like the same things your whole life.

5. We don't dress alike.

My twin and I stopped dressing alike in kindergarten. Fraternal friends aren't two of the same people who don't look alike, we're individuals who like different things.

6. She is my best friend, however we don't do everything together.

We are our own selves, we are interested in different things and we are passionate about different things.

7. Being a twin is amazing.

Although we can't play tricks on people, we do have a special bond that only twins can have.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
