Being independent does not mean being alone. However comfortable the independent woman is when she is alone, she does not block out others. She may come off as guarded, and she may enter relationships with caution. But, she does allow herself to love and to make relationships, whether they are ones that fall apart and teach her lessons, or relationships that last for a lifetime. She does not allow her independence to keep her from experiencing a life of love for others.
Being yourself is the most beautiful thing that you can be. She has learned over the years that she cannot worry over striving for perfection, no one is ever perfect. Instead she strives to be the best that she can be, embraces her imperfections, and allows herself to be proud of the woman that she is and the woman that she is becoming each day.
Confidence is hard to come by. She has been through all the awkward phases of high school, and the life altering experiences of college. And through all that, she has finally discovered the self confidence that is now present in everything that she does. She no longer frets over what people think of her, or if she's doing life right.
Heels aren't the only thing that can look pretty when they're painful. She has experienced heartbreak, and she has learned how to put on a smile when, secretly, she's dying for a huge hug and some guidance. She has a tendency to tell everyone that 'It's OK', when it really isn't, and she's still learning how to ask for help. But, she is learning. The heartbreaks teach her lessons, her friends give the greatest hugs, and she lets herself search for a shoulder to cry on every now and again.
Playing hard to forget is more important than playing hard to get. She does not need attention from anyone, and she doesn't allow herself to worry over whether or not she's winning anyone over. Her strength and confidence allow her to be comfortable and straight forward with people. She'd rather engage in lasting relationships than waste time on the chase or other games. It is hard to forget a woman as confident and independent as she, even though she may not realize it.
She does not apologize for living her life. She beats to her own drum and does not need to explain herself to anyone. She has long abandoned the hope to please everyone in her life, because it's nearly impossible. She allows herself to make mistakes, and to continue to learn every day who she is and who she wants to be. She is not focused on where she's going or where she has been. She's simply focused on her present self, her present life, and living it to it's fullest. She is who she wants herself to be, not who anyone else expects her to be. Sorry not sorry.
