It is scary. It is the fear of the unknown. It is the first time for most of you that you will be left on your own to fend for yourself and let your independence shine. Here are the top 10 things you need to know about the first week of school freshman year:

1. Everyone is just as scared as you are

2. You will feel lost and clueless, but that is normal

3. You will be desperate for friends, but try to associate yourself with those you think you will remain friends with throughout the year, not just for the week

4. You will receive a simple syllabus, from every class and get completely overwhelmed, but have no fear, that is the easiest assignment you will receive

5. Get organized and stay organized

6. The first week is a scary world with plenty of intimidation, but once you are settled in no one knows you are a freshman, you will be treated the same as everyone else

7. Despite the cluelessness of the nightlife and where to go, find somewhere random and go out!

8. You will miss home, but you will get over it once you are acclimated

9. Embrace the newness and the scariness of your surroundings, go explore

10. You are a freshman. It is your first week in the semi- real world. You will feel lost, but you will have the best year.
