This summer you promised yourself you were going to do amazing things, smart things, interesting things. How many of them did you actually do?
Did you do any of those cool Pinterest DIYs that you always dreamed of doing? And did you make those fruity drinks poured into a hollowed out pineapple? Maybe you did, but how well did they turn out? Probably not as great as Pinterest makes them look.
Did you ever get around to editing your resume? You were going to make it look real professional and pack it full of the perfect adjectives that would make any employer hire you. Also, you were going to create a nice new header to make you stand out amongst the rest. Well, at least you thought about it.
Remember how you were going to check your final grades from last semester? Did you do it? You probably haven’t even looked at your fall schedule yet. You were going to be so prepared for next semester and fill out your calendar ahead of time just so you could be on top of everything. Better luck in the spring!
Did you ever make it to all those cool trendy bars or restaurants you wanted to go to? Between trying to find people to go with, coordinating everyone’s schedules, and finding a way there and back it probably ended up just being easier to stay home. So long to all those adorable pictures you were going to take.
All those books sitting next to your bed probably served only as a nice table for your coffee every morning, but didn’t get much use other than that. Maybe you’ll still read them while you’re at school. Eh, who are you kidding? You’re not going to read any of them.
Whatever happened to that road trip you were going to take? It didn’t matter where you were going, but it was going to be epic. Unfortunately, ain’t nobody got time for that, or the gas money required to get you where you wanted to go.
You were also going to make a ton of money. You didn’t know how, but you were going to make it happen so that when you got back to school you could frequent happy hour. If you’re lucky, the money that you actually made just might be enough to support you for a month.
Even though you didn’t accomplish any of these things, or maybe just a few of them, you did do one thing—start and finish multiple series on Netflix. And you know what, it was well worth it. There’s always next summer to do all these things. At least, that’s what you keep telling yourself.
