I love being a camp counselor, even though it's not everyone's cup of tea. There is something about it that is nostalgic and exciting that has me looking forward to summer each year. Anyone who has been a camp counselor can tell you that it isn't all fun and games. Sometimes, you just have to roll with the punches and hope you and your campers can make it through the week! Here are some things any counselor can relate to:

1. Exhaustion sets in fast.

Giphy

Just watching the kids run around makes me tired. Is it rest time yet???

2. Getting kids to take regular showers is a challenge.

Giphy

Say it with me: EVERY DAY IS SHOWER DAY.

3. Drama is magnified when campers live with each other for an extended time.

Giphy

If I have to settle one more fight over who sits next to whom in the dining hall, I'm going to lose it.

4. Always overpack - you never know when you'll need a neon tutu or a superhero onesie.

Giphy

I know I'm not moving in, but what if I need 16 t-shirts? YOU NEVER KNOW.

5. Kids will come up with every excuse under the sun to get out of going to sleep.

Giphy

No, you can't visit your friend's cabin. No, you can't have a pillow fight. How are you not tired??

6. Tubing is by far the most popular water activity.

Giphy

Watching them fall off the tubes from the boat is almost as good as being on the tubes!

7. Kids are just as reluctant to do cabin chores as you would imagine them to be.

Giphy

Me, pleading with my campers: If everyone does one chore, we'll have a clean cabin in 5 minutes!

Them: *crickets*

8. As a counselor, you will be more hyped than the campers at some point. It always happens.

Giphy

They may look at me like I'm nuts, but I GET HYPED ABOUT TEAM COLOR DAY.

9. Kids will mock you for a variety of things for no reason at all.

Giphy

Apparently, it's weird to like apple juice. Like, somehow, that's uncool??

10. You always have a favorite camper (even if you really shouldn't).

Giphy

They bring about the fewest headaches.

11. And a least favorite...

Giphy

Thank God we're all going home on Saturday.

12. Tears are inevitable.

Giphy

Whether it's about missing home, fighting with friends, or not wanting to leave camp, you have to be prepared with tissues and a way to make them smile again.

13. Kids find new ways to hurt themselves every year.

Giphy

What do you mean you tried to flip off of the nine-square apparatus?!?!

14. You actively seek out adult conversation.

Giphy

Please, can we talk about something other than Fortnite and glitter slime recipes?

15. You will definitely miss camp when it's over.

Giphy

How many days until next summer?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
