We have all done it: accidentally forgetting to set an alarm and missing class the next morning, raiding the fridge to find something to eat, or the occasional day in which you skip class to manage your time for another. It's a part of being in college and being an independent adult, and can happen daily. Here are 13 things a college student experiences on a daily basis.
1. No money. Always what you need and never what you have.
2. No food. Another problem if you are short on money and are very hungry.
3. To nap or not to nap? Can I sneak in a 47 minute nap before my next class so I am not identified as a zombie?
4. Constant worry about what you want to do with your life. Because nobody knows, and I have a love/hate relationship with the major I'll chose.
5. Debate between Netflix or homework. Finish up homework by 11:59 p.m. or continue watching "Parks and Recreation"?
6. Not understanding new material learned in class. Because I don't remember the material for the lesson and of course there would be a pop quiz on it today.
7. Education vs. Health. We can become so consumed with work that we forget that our bodies need sleep and basic hygiene. Don't ever tell me you were able to take a shower and make it to class on time when you woke up late. (PSA, your health is more important than your grades!)
8. Forgetting assignment due dates. The syllabus is buried in the bottom of my backpack and my brain has so much other stuff jam packed into it. (Tip: buy a day planner, trust me it helps!)
9. Going to bed really late and waking up early. Because getting work done instead of sleep sounds like a good plan at first, but waking up for your 8 a.m. the next day will surely bring regret.
10. Barely making it to class. When you overestimate your time getting ready in the morning and running to class makes you only late by two minutes.
11. Skipping class to study for another class. Time management at its finest.
12. The nonexistent alarm. This is the alarm you forgot to set or slept through. RIP to all alarms lost by college students.
13. Deciding whether or not your body has the ability to go out and function. Coming home after a long day and having a friend call you up and wanting to hang out is a great idea, but some days you want to watch BuzzFeed videos and lay in bed. (P.S. it's totally acceptable to say no every once in a while.)
Whether these things actually happen to you or not, just remember your time at your university and to know your limits. Work hard but don't work yourself to point of no return. Listen to your subconscious and your body so that you can make the most of your opportunities and time in college. College is a time filled with finding yourself, meeting new people and becoming the best you can be. Work towards making your mind, body and soul better and the rest will fall into place. Also remember that just about everyone is experiencing the same things you are, so you are never alone in a situation and are more than likely to get through it.
