Being a girl is just as easy as you think. Here are some things we do, even if we don't really want to...
1. Wearing makeup.
OKAY, who had the wonderful idea of beautifying women with makeup; and then making it so darn expensive? Going into a store like Sephora or Ulta will literally drain your bank account faster than you can ask the store associate which mascara makes your lashes the most voluminous. Don't get me wrong, makeup is a super great thing! It has saved me from many days of looking completely and utterly exhausted; but the pressure to perfectly contour, highlight, and conceal is a little much sometimes.
2. Clothes, so many clothes.
Can someone please explain why women have so many clothing options? A girl will usually put together a complete outfit consisting of a top, bottoms, accessories, and shoes. It will be super cute and she may feel super confident, but it probably took a good 30 minutes to plan what she was going to wear. Also, we can't wear the same outfit back to back without feeling judged by their friends even if the complete outfit was washed, dried, and ironed in between wears. It just doesn't matter. Yet, a guy can throw on sweatpants and a t-shirt and go... no one says a thing. It's a double standard that I don't approve of.
3. Uteruses and that awful thing that they do.
Do I really need to say more? You die and get extremely emotional and bloated for 12 weeks out of the year and you're expected to live your life as if nothing is happening. Not cool.
4. The "Unspoken Rules of being a Female."
Unless you're a girl, you don't understand. If someone asks to borrow a ponytail holder, you have to let her borrow it even if it's your last one. If someone asks to borrow a shirt, you have to let her because one day she may have something that you want to borrow. If your friend got a haircut, even a trim, you have to compliment her simply because no one else probably noticed the change. If your best friend calls at 4 a.m., you have to answer her because you're her person...even though you have that big exam at 8 a.m. There are too many unspoken rules to list, but they totally exist.
5. The pressure to prove yourself.
Women, in my opinion, have to work a little harder to prove themselves as equals to men. Granted, we are supposed to be submissive to our husbands, but we are still equals. Ever since we were little girls, we were told that we could be anything we wanted to be; and although that is true, we may not make as much as a man would in our dream career or not receive as much praise for something as a man does. Not hating on men, just saying that sometimes it's not a completely equal playing field in the real world.
Even though women may have it rough sometimes, and our hairspray may not hold out through a rainy day, being a girl is still pretty awesome when you consider all of the awesome things we can do...and we can do them in heels so it's a win-win.
