As the summer comes to an end, sophomore year is here and we're ready to crush it. We're all 100 percent over those dorms and ready to move into our freshly polished apartments and houses. But as we begin to move forward, we know there are a few things we'll miss.
1. The feeling of the first night on your own.
2. Your roommate -- your soulmate, the person you'll never forget.
3. The first time you had to actually do laundry (wait, will we really miss that?)
4. The rug in the middle of the floor that was covered in hair.
5. Those "Can I have the room tonight?" texts.
6. Always having another person's opinion on your outfit.
7. Your and your roommate's clothes taking over the entire room.
8. The first time you had to kill a bug and literally died right afterwards.
9. Those nights you just needed to vent and cry, and your roommate still liked you.
10. Because, after all, she ended up crying too.
11. Having movie nights with cheap popcorn and a 19-inch TV.
12. Accidentally locking yourself out of the room.
13. Returning from winter break with more clothes than you originally brought to move in with.
14. Making impulsive late-night Cookout runs.
15. Pulling all-nighters with your roomie during exam week.
16. And lastly, the accomplished, yet sad, feeling of the empty room on move-out day.
Our freshman dorms were more than overpriced on-campus housing. They were a place of making memories, getting to know new friends, and maybe committing a few RA violations. They may have sucked, but I would do anything to go back and relive it all.
