The One Thing I Miss The Most About Home When At College

The way your feet hit the clean shower, instead of the dirty one.

College, man. It's something. At this point, that it what I have to say about it.

We're in the middle of winter and now I have one more thing that makes me want to stay in my bed instead of going to class. But aside from that, there are a few cons about college that don't apply when I go home, unlike the cold weather which seems to follow me everywhere.

If you are a college student reading this, I know you'll be able to relate, and if you're going to be in college at some point, never take this for granted again.

My roommate and I go home with each other pretty frequently. We're either at her house or my house one or two weekends a month. And this never fails, every single time we're about to go home, we say this to each other.

"I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOWER WITHOUT SHOES ON!!!!!"

Anyone in college knows how gross the bathrooms are. Puke stays in the toilet the entire weekend, PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FLUSH, and the trash never seems to hit the trashcan. I will never take for granted a clean shower and bathroom.

I went home the other weekend, and since I'm so in the routine of wearing flip flops in the shower, I freaked out because I forgot them at school. After a little while, I realized I was home and didn't need them, and I thought that I was going to cry tears of joy.

It is so bad that when I was in high school I would sometimes shower two times a day, and now i prioritize many things over showering because part of me feels like I'm getting dirtier when I shower.

This whole gross bathroom thing has turned me into a completely different person.

Moral of the story is, don't take things for granted before you go and when you're home from college. There's things that you don't even think about.

Most people focus on it being hard to share a space with someone, or the food being horrible, which may be true. Whatever you do, don't take the bathroom for granted. It's practically a delicacy that you can't just have whenever you want.

P.S. I'm leaving for my roommate house in less than an hour and I can't wait to shower without flip flops.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
