There are two types of girls on New Year's Eve: the one in the committed relationship that has her midnight kiss locked in and the girl who frantically searches for someone the whole night to kiss the minute the clock strikes 12. I decided to take a different approach than the two options above. I did not kiss anyone, and guess what? I survived. New Year's has turned into a holiday obsessed with the midnight kiss and resolutions that tend to last a month into the new year. This time I rung in the new year the right way, with my best friends reminiscing on the great memories we made and the many left to come.
This was the first time since freshman year (of high school) that I didn't have a kiss, and I had a blast. We all gathered around the TV watching the ball drop, popping champagne, stress free about who was going to kiss who. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you don't need a man to have fun. Ladies, I've had enough relationship experience to know that it's near pointless to try and find a relationship for the rest of your life in high school or the beginning of college for that matter. Yes, relationships that don't make it the long haul are great learning experiences when you learn a lot about yourself and what you do and do not like in a man, but I think I've learned enough for now.
Here's to the year of me, myself, and I. No, I do not consider this a resolution since that word doesn't have the best success rate. This is more like a goal, an oath to bettering myself and the relationships I'm lucky to have in my life, and here's how.
Step out of my comfort zone with friends.
Nothing makes our bond stronger than doing stupid things together.
Don't cry over boys. They're not worth it.
Unless the boys are puppies, that's OK!
Stop being so grumpy -- change your attitude, change your life.
Have your friends' backs.
No matter how cute a guy is remember to respect yourself.
He may be gorgeous, but if he's just a one-time thing, it is probably not worth it or potentially catching the feels.
Finally, remember you're beautiful and worth it...
