In San Francisco, a woman who said that the dreadlocks were “against her culture,” assaulted a man with dreadlocks. The guy with the dreadlocks tried to explain that he had the freedom to have any hair that he wants but the woman did not like what he was saying… Are you kidding me? The fact that someone is so butt hurt over someone else having the haircut that your culture has is sad. This is a growing trend among people all over the nation of what I like to call: The Wussification of America.
There have been recent complaints that have been trending on social media about the dumbest things. Some of these things include a group of Emory University students complaining to the administration about the emotional distress they were under because they saw the phrase “Trump 2016” in chalk on the cement. These students, the same age as most soldiers were back during World War I and II, were given guidance counseling and other aids for their needs because they were so desperately in need of help. This has caused an internet trend called “The Chalkening” where students write something in support of Trump loud and proud in the middle of their campus and then post it with the hashtag #thechalkening. However, these are just a select few of the countless amounts of complaints that have been made.
I don’t understand what makes people so upset about the smallest things. People complain about things such as the new rule at the University of Arizona that says that all fraternity serenades are considered Title IX Sexual Assault. So just for those who don’t understand, a couple dozen shirtless fraternity guys singing a song to a bunch of sorority girls is considered sexual assault according to the U of A. It is just sad. Different colleges have also been implementing the new “Safe Space” policy which is used to decrease violence.
So, what does this mean for the future of America? Well according to Americans today all you need is a keyboard and an attitude to “make a difference.” Instead of making a difference what I see is another thing I scroll past on Facebook or change the channel on TV. I know I have probably said it over ten times throughout the course of this article but this it is just sad. It is sad that we live in a world where people can’t walk around with a hairstyle without being criticized and assaulted. It is sad we live in a world where people can’t say something without making someone upset. Overall, America just needs to grow a pair and learn to read about something that they may not love seeing without protesting or complaining about it.
