The Worst Things About Autumn

Trust me there are some bad things about everyone's favorite season

The Worst Things About Autumn

gI think it’s pretty clear that fall is arguably the best season and everyone waits for summer to end so they can stop sweating all the time. Fall is great for many reasons; it gets cooler out, the leaves start to change color, and of course fall fashion. Everyone talks about how amazing the season is or how if it could be fall forever that would be a dream come true. But not everything about the great season of autumn is all sugar, spice, and everything nice. There are a few bad aspects of the season that no one likes to talk about…

1. How Inconsistent the Weather Is

I mean seriously; it’s 70 degrees one day then 55 the next? And Mother Nature can’t make up her mind about it for a whole month. Or it rains for three days straight, then it's sunny for another two, then, of course, it's back to rain.

2. Getting Sick

Getting sick is the worst part about having colder weather; once your throat starts to get a little dry/sore, it’s all downhill. Soon your nose will start to clog up and your sleeping days are over. You think about all the times you weren’t sick and how you should take better care of your body, but we all know that you won’t. Getting sick in college is incredibly worse; mom isn’t here to help comfort you and going to student health is a joke. Student health will tell you “it’s just allergies” even when you aren’t allergic to anything.

3. Pumpkin Patches and Apple Orchards

You go every year with your friends or drag your boyfriend to them, but the end result is always the same: it’s too damn crowded. Turns out that you had the same idea as everyone else to go pick apples and drink cider. Walking into an apple orchard is a nightmare. Kids running around crying about how they want another doughnut, parents trying to corral their kid into the hayride, and if you’re lucky enough you'll even cross paths with an elementary school field trip.

4. Pumpkin Flavored Everything

Hey, I like pumpkin spice as much as the next white girl, but enough is enough. I don’t want to walk into target and see a range of spice-flavored items like Oreos, chewing gum, and yogurt. Gross.

5. Candy Corn

It will never be good. Don’t try to fool yourself. Candy Corn is disgusting. And stop wasting your money on buying different flavors because they give out a glimmer of hope!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
