Society's biggest problem is the complete lack of tolerance for anyone or anything different. Everyone is so scared of diversity. They’re afraid of the unknown. People use fear as a weapon. It is so commonly used in today’s world against anyone who does not follow the standards of society. They are bullied, tormented, and not accepted because of who they are. Just because someone is different from you does not give anyone a right to judge them. No one is perfect. The time you spend judging and crapping on other people, you could use to go work on your own self. Ever heard of "treat people the way you want to be treated?" I think that needs to be instilled back into society.
Would you like to hear my weird theory? I think the world has gradually torn people down, and now we ended up with a generation of depression. One of the biggest reasons people treat other people the way they do is because they are not happy with themselves. If everyone took the time to work on themselves, maybe there would not be so much ignorance. I realize how naïve that sounds, but it’s just a thought.
Most of us just don’t understand each other, but that’s okay. Some people don’t even understand themselves. The word "weird" is overused and improperly used most of the time, so I looked it up. And you know what the dictionary said? "Fantastic or suggesting the supernatural." I’m definitely not a werewolf, vampire, zombie, etc. So the next time someone calls me "weird," I’ll say, “Thank you, I know I’m fantastic.” Maybe bullies should become a little more educated before spewing out insults when they don’t even know the definition. If someone calls you odd, just reply, “Thank you. I know I’m unusual and out of the ordinary, because I’m extraordinary.”
Your hair color, skin color, choice of clothes, or taste in music should not be your judging factors. Your appearance does not determine who you are. If people were to actually get to know one another and stop judging a book by its cover (yes I did just use that cliché expression), then maybe people would not be bullied so much. We’re not all supposed to be the same. Our differences are what makes us. A diverse person is a beautiful person. The next time you want to judge and criticize someone, take a look in the mirror, first. Give people a chance, leap into the unknown, you never what could happen, or who you could meet.
