Have you ever wondered who the voice of Siri is? Some people believe it’s just a voice that Apple created with software, but the woman behind the voice is actually a popular voice that is heard a lot. Her name is Susan Bennett, and she is also popularly known as Siri, Apple’s voice activated virtual “assistant.”
Susan has been a famous voice actor for most of her life. She started her career as a voice of Tilly the all-time teller, the first ATM ever invented. She then did voice recordings for GPS, Delta airlines, airports, commercials, phone recordings, and much more. Susan Bennett’s real power is helping in the hands of 100 million people.
Siri was recorded in July of 2005, and Susan recorded her voice for four hours a day for the whole month sitting in a recording booth while she repeated thousands of phrases over and over daily. Then, with a process called concatenation, the voices came to life. Susan Bennett had no idea she was going to be recorded for Apple, but it was used when Apple came out with the 4S. Siri was featured in the new iphone in October of 2011.
Now, after hearing her voice for so long, she decided to come out of hiding and let everyone know who the voice behind Siri is. Even though Apple has neither denied nor accepted Bennett as the voice, it’s pretty clear that she is indeed Siri. Others have even tried to vouch for being behind the voice, but no one can sound as comparable to Siri as Susan Bennett.
Today, Susan is just trying to make sure everyone knows she is the real Siri. GM Voices, which has recorded Bennett’s voice for over 25 years, had backed her up in saying that she is 100% the real Siri. Other companies like Nuance Communications, which provides technology for Siri, tested both voices together and came back with a 100% match. With that determination, who is going to deny the Susan Bennett is in fact, the most famously voiced actor in the world, Siri?
