I was going to discuss how beauty is more than just skin deep, but instead, I will talk about rocks. Take an amethyst rock for example. When it is whole, you cannot know whether this rock is anything more than simply just a grayish-brown rock. One you can find anywhere, no more than a rough in a rough. Much less than a diamond, much less than gold. You can see an uncut amethyst rock and think nothing of it. Never to wonder anything more about it. Merely a rock. But what if you decided to give it a chance, to assume that this rock is greater than the sum of its parts. Of course, there is a chance that this rock could just be a rock, no more, no less, but what if. What if you did decide to crack it open, to discover what could reside inside of it, to have the curiosity and courage to give what you could possibly find a standing chance. So you do. You crack it open, and when it is exposed, it is iridescent, it is shiny. The crystal like interior finally exposed to the naked-eye. Now, this rough rock, that once was merely just a rock has evolved. A complete 180 taking shape. Truly, the rock is now greater than the sum of its parts. So, what if people were given that chance?

Commonly, humans.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
