I think one of the hardest parts of the school year, at least for college students, is the start of the spring semester. Or maybe just the whole damn thing, really. We've spent about three weeks pretty much stress and deadline free... and next thing you know, it's time to gear up and re-enter the arena we call college. It's amazing how quickly we can shed our student mindset as we enter into Winter Break, but how difficult it is to suit up once again for the spring semester. I know I can't be the only one who has been thinking about some of the following things, as the new semester approaches.
1. This semester will be different.
You're ready to kick butt this semester. But one month in, and you know you will be mentally and emotionally spent.
2. Just kidding, I'm going to have another 100 mental breakdowns.
Let's not fool ourselves; at least one of our classes is bound to push us to the edge and make us a little crazy.
3. Hoping none of the transfers get roomed in your suite
It's not that you are anti social, its just that you have already gotten used to the way things flow with your current roommates. Adding new people will just shake things up. You're just not up for it.
4. Telling yourself how you're going to stay focused this semester
Yeah right.
5. Getting stressed remembering how stressed out you were a month ago because you know you are about to experience another four months of it
This is pretty much self explanatory. It's okay, just let it sink in. Just go with it.
6. But at least there's only about 120 days until summer though...
This alone can get us through these final months of hell. Keep your eye on the prize guys.
7. I'll cut back on caffeine and get more sleep.
But next thing you know you find yourself in class like...
8. Why, school?! Why?!
Then you find yourself frustrated because you wish college would just go a tad bit easier on you.
9. Wishing you could return back to campus, but without the term papers and exams
Because that would be amazing. It would be like one never ending social gathering. Stress free.
10. Wondering how you managed to live through the fall semester
No seriously, how did I manage? Winter break made me remember how lazy I can be when I don't have obligations.
11. Low key getting a little sad because you wish you could submerge your hometown life with your new college life
It's hard to decide at times where you like being more. You love your new life at college. But it's so comforting to be at home with family, and the few close friends you keep in touch with from high school.
Stay strong, fellow collegians. I am constantly amazed by how much I manage to overcome in my college career. No matter how hard I feel like I am struggling in a particular area, my constant effort and determination have never failed me. We can do it, y'all; we are in this together. Here's to the spring semester.
