The late Steve Jobs was a notorious butt hole. Nevertheless, Apple continues to receive praise, and it's evils are ignored. Apple products are so convenient and popular with the public, the corporations background can be over looked.
Steve Jobs was known to be anal about the little details. There are a few stories circulating that describe how Steve Jobs would get so obsessed over minor details, to the point of rage. If so much as a certain color of an app did not meet his expectations, for example, the shade of yellow in the letter "O" of the Google app, it had to fixed. In this case, Steve Jobs said, "I didn't think the color looked good on the iPhone."
The late Steve Jobs was so rich, you probably would never guess that he never wrote any of the actual programming codes for any of the Apple devices. Steve Wozniak and Allen Baum, Steve Jobs partners and "friends" wrote all of the code. Steve did, however, make altercations on the appearances of the devices. He is responsible for the simple, user friendly, appearance that Apple is known for. Another fun fact about Jobs is that he was greedy with money, even when it came to those closest to him. He secretly withheld money that was supposed to be split 50/50 with Wozniack, and denied Apple stock to one of his earliest employees.
Jobs was also a fan of the theatrics. When designing the first generation of iPods, Jobs threw a prototype into an aquarium to illustrate to the engineers that air bubbles rose to the surface, meaning that there was unnecessary spaces in the device that could be used to cram the instruments closer together and create a smaller iPod. The first iPod was 20 millimeters thin, and the most recent model is six millimeters.
Since Steve Jobs seemed to be a little messed up, it comes as no surprise that the corporation itself has done some messed up things too. Apple is known for it's lack of concern with the environment. They carelessly dump toxic sludge into Chinese rivers and pollute their air through loopholes in China's laws. So while what they are doing is legal, it's hardly ethical. Jobs condoned anything that saves a little cash. The workers in China get treated poorly, working 15-hour shifts with little to no breaks, and army like training. Oh yeah, and they get paid about $40 a month at that. Many of the workers happen to be children. In 2010 about 90 kids were found working in Chinese factories and those numbers have increased over the years.
Apple is one of the most powerful companies in the world. They are even said to have more money than the government. But of course power like that of Apple's has come at the price of it's reputation.
