The Truth Behind The Frat Groupie

Being a frat groupie is something that people always see as a negative. Instantly, when people hear the phrase "Frat Groupie" they think of some girl that makes her rounds from pledge class to pledge class. I'm going to be the first one to openly admit this, but I am a frat groupie. I know what you all are thinking, but being a frat groupie doesn't necessarily mean you sleep around with an entire fraternity. I can't believe I'm saying this, but there is much more that goes into it. Honestly, being a frat groupie is kind of like being in a sorority, but you didn't go through recruitment to find this home.

Think of it like this: you head into a party one night and generally you like the people you meet. They seem cool and nice, but let's face it they're frat guys. Regardless, you continue to come back weekend after weekend. You dance together, you take shots together, and at this point you have a whole new set of guy friends. Then everything changes. You start hanging out with them during the day and you start to learn more about their personal lives. They start being there for you and you start being there for them. No longer do you see them as just typical frat guys, but some of your closest friends.

These boys quickly become your family. You can vent to them about sorority life, personal problems, and even sometimes relationship problems. I'm not saying by any means, to be best friends with every single member of a fraternity, but it is nice to know that there is a group of men that is constantly looking out for you. Men that will be there for you when you need to be saved from that creep at the bar, and even men who will be willing to offer you a place to stay (platonically).

So before you are quick to judge the "Frat Groupie" who is always at the chapter house just know this: She is not trying to sleep with anyone. She is not trying to steal your man. She is not even trying to be the sweetheart. She is, however, trying to spend time with the fraternity boys who quickly became her brothers.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
