Finally living on your own is all fun and games until the time actually comes to be an adult. Sure, leaving the dorms technically was leaving the nest but it was a small peak over the side of the nest compared to what living in your own apartment is like.Let me tell you, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Don't get me wrong I love having my own place and being able to live with my best friend. It's one of the best things, but the whole 'being an adult' part of it can get really tough sometimes.

When something goes wrong in calling mom and crying for help won't do anything to help the situation. Even when you wake up from your nap to roll over and make eye contact with 1,000 small bugs covering every inch of your bed. Am I speaking from experience? Maybe. (Warning: Do not keep your box fan in your window.) You can call your mom complaining about everything that seems to be going wrong but at the end of the day you are the person who has to step up and deal with it. It's a bitter sweet situation because you're not used to having to do all things adult stuff. Like for instance, who thinks to close the lights in rooms when you leave? Well guess who turns into a freak about it once you start having to pay for it? Yeah, you. Or what about those long hot showers you would take every morning? Those get cut about in half when you realize how expensive your water bill is every month. Now that money is coming out of your pocket you become the most conservative energy user in the world. You can bet on me to not turn on a light until it's far past sunset and natural lighting can't be depended on anymore.

Cooking on your own is a whole other story. While you may have thought you were a good chef at home it defiantly gets put to the test living on your own. Tasty videos will not look like they do on your phone screen and your first couple tries will be completely fails. Every day will consist of at least one sandwich and some days you'll even forget to make dinner. That's when you'll find yourself in the kitchen at 1 am making a sandwich because your stomach finally decided to yell at you.

At the end of the day though, living on your own is awesome and totally has it's perks. You have a new home and defiantly makes the feeling of being an adult real. The best part though is going back to your old home and having that rush of relaxation and ease sweep over again. Your new home is your home away from home and it defiantly is a big part of being an adult.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
