Self-confidence is hard to come by nowadays because in this society we are always comparing ourselves to each other. From physical looks to academic success to monetary gain, we always look at the next person and find that their grass is a little bit greener. But why?
It is hard to love yourself, and it is hard to not care what others think of you.
I like to think that I'm a free spirit and I don't care how others perceive me, but really I'm a bleeding heart and I care more about others' opinions than I lead on. I always give friends advice, saying, "Do you! You shouldn't care what others think of you as long as you are happy with yourself!" Honestly, that's a hard statement to actually put into practice. Once you have preconceived notions of what others think of you in your mind, you'll never be able to climb out of that hole you keep digging yourself.
Quiet the voices that tell you that you aren't good enough.
Everyone's journey is different and everyone battles different things in their lives. No two people are going to have the same experience on the road to self-love. It's a long and arduous journey, but the outcome is critical to your success.
I don't have any of this down yet. And that's perfectly fine with me. I'm on my way.
Truthfully, there is no trick to always being self-confident. At least, I don't have any tricks for you. You are going to have the bad days, and you are going to have the super awesome days. The real strategy is to work hard at it every single day and give everything you do your best. That's the only way that you can fight this uphill climb against your mind.
Give it your best shot and know that you're gonna change the world one day. Look at yourself in the mirror and be a person that you like seeing.
You've got this. I believe in you.
