NEEDTOBREATHE has become one of my absolute favorite bands to listen to as of late, It is not because of their hit songs “Brother,” or “Multiplied.” No disrespect to those songs by any means because they are wonderful but it is good to listen to other songs to truly get to know a band and their sound. Their newest album HARD LOVE brings a sound to music that literally just changes everything.

The Christian Contemporary rock group out of South Carolina formed in 1998. They released their first studio album Daylight in 2006 and have released five more studio albums since.

It seems with each studio that the group has released its popularity as increased, they are a train that just keeps on going and they show no signs of stopping.

The thing I love the most about them is they have songs for every type of mood you may be in. Whether you are happy, sad, confused, and hyper, whatever it is they have a song for you. Most importantly, it connects you to God, and that is what makes this music so amazing.

That being said here are my top 5 NEEDTOBREATHE songs not named “Brother,” or “Multiplied.”

5. “Wanted Man”

This song is about a man on the run. I mean it’s pretty self-explanatory but this song is definitely for those who feel on the run from this world and what it tells them that they are, that probably isn’t what they meant when they wrote this song, but hey, that’s what I got out of it!

4. Washed By Water

This song totally reminds me of being baptized and how freeing it felt afterwards. It also is a great reminder that no matter how much we fail, how much we think we let God down, we are cleansed of our sins through Christ’s death on the cross and the washing of our sins through baptism.

3. Feet Don’t Fail Me Now

Okay, honestly just listen to this song and you will want to just go for a run or at least do some sort of physical activity. Again another song about being on the run, but really just listen it’s so good.

2. HARDLOVE

This song is the title song of their latest album HARDLOVE. It meshes an 80s electric sound and modern contemporary pop sort of sound together. The song is a reminder that walking with God is never easy and that understanding and fully grasping his love is not easy, but it is possible when you trust him.

1.State I’m In

This is a song about someone who is super confused about the direction that they are going in their life, but they sing about how they are in darkness but bright lights won’t leave them alone. What I get from that is when we are confused about our next step, our next thing in our life, God’s light is shining right in front of us, guiding us, no matter how dark it is.

There are so many more songs that I could recommend from this group but go listen for yourself, you wont be disappointed!
