"Breaking Bad" is the best show made in the history of television. If you're reading this, you probably agree with that statement. If you disagree, you either haven't watched "Breaking Bad" or we can't be friends.
"Breaking Bad" fans know what makes the show so great. The cinematography, the acting, the story development, and even the humor are what makes this winner of 16 Emmy's the best of all time. Walter White's transformation from a hopeless chemistry teacher dying of cancer to the most notorious meth kingpin of all time is one of the greatest stories ever told. A list of 10 doesn't do the show proper justice and there are so many fantastic moments I wish I could include, but out of the five seasons (technically six), here are my top 10 best moments of the entire series.
Obviously, spoilers will follow.
10. The Box Cutter
"Breaking Bad" is a violent show, there's no question of that. But the shock and brutality of this scene is unparalleled in the series. Nobody in the show or watching at home knew what Gus was going to do. The tension building as he slowly dresses only made the sudden murder that more shocking.
9. Jane's Death
Speaking of death, Jane's was one of the more disturbing on the show. Bryan Cranston steals the scene however as he shows Walter's guilt and regret for not saving Jane. Unfortunately, this isn't even the worst thing to happen to Jesse.
8. Jesse is Finally Free
Jesse has been rejected by his family, woken up next to his dead girlfriend, watched his next girlfriend be shot to death, has been beaten senseless, and was even made into a meth-cooking slave. In "Breaking Bad"'s last moments, Jesse finally gets a happy ending. His face says it all.
7. The Crawl Space
Walt finally cracked, screaming and erupting with a maniacal laugh reminiscent of the Joker. This haunting scene also shows off "Breaking Bad"'s excellent cinematography.
6. Heisenberg's Last Stand
"Breaking Bad" is filled with tons of cool science, showing how a chemistry teacher can use his book smarts as a criminal. Walt's last kills with the remote controlled gun in the car were in the most Walt way possible, and God damn was it cool.
5. Gus's Death
Gustavo Fringe was probably the best villain through the series. He was also given the best and most satisfying death. Rest in Peace, Gus.
4. This is Not Meth
Again, Walt shows off how a chemistry teacher can rule the streets. Passing off fulminated mercury as meth to fool Tuco and blow his hideout was one of the coolest attacks Heisenberg planned.
3. Say My Name
"Say my name."
"You're Heisenberg."
"You're goddamn right."
There is no more Walter White. There's only Heisenberg.
2. Lily of the Valley
I always wanted to believe that Walt was still a good man. But the big reveal at the end of Season 4 was the only time I've ever jumped out of my seat and screamed profanities at my TV. This twist was too much to take.
1. I AM THE DANGER Monologue
I'm not even going to comment on this scene. You know why it's the best.
"Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how much I make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into work? A business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks!"
So that does it for my top 10 scenes. Like I said, there are way too many to pick from. Scenes such as "Run" and the Tortuga are fantastic but didn't quite make my list. However, I do have one honorary mention.
