I believe, simply put, that life is a portrait. The paintbrushes are the experiences that create the magnificent strokes of color and vibrancy that shine. There are shades of lights and darks, much like the highs and lows we experience in our lives. The canvas is the foundation that we build these experiences, cumulating all the brushstrokes and shades. As the portrait sits, dust collects, giving age to the portrait as it withstands the tests of time and fate.
Our souls, our beings, are the portraits of God's image and handiwork, making us innately unique and special. We love. We fight. We forgive. We laugh. We cry. All these things make us, ourselves, unique people.
Along life’s journey, we encounter people that change us and add to the portrait with additional brushstrokes and techniques.
These are the three people you will meet in your life.
The Right Person for the Right Moment
It feels as if this person came and went so fast, like a mid-summer afternoon thunderstorm. They come into your life with such force that you are knocked breathless with amazement. Usually, this person and you meet by complete chance and either meet in passing or for a short amount of time. These are the people that sometimes make the most profound impact because of the spontaneity of their presence in your life, adding to your canvas. In time, they even are sources of inspirations for artists and writers alike.
The Right Person for the Right Time
This person comes at what feels a time in your life when you need them most. Whether it is a friend, a lover, or relative, they come and support you when you are at your weakest. They come also when the chemistry of both people is magnetic and passionate. They are fiercely loyal and they draw upon your best qualities, as you do with theirs. You remember them for a specific time, either at your summer job or during your high school years. Later in life, you may associate them with a specific stage in your life. This type of person you want to hold onto for longer than just a "fling." They are your partner in crime in some era of your life.
The Right Person Forever
These people are your foundation. Eternal is your bond, unbreakable, tested by trial and error. Loyalty or betrayal have made you stronger for it. You both have endured life’s challenges and experienced the happiest and worst of days. They built you for who you are and what you have become. Your friendship or romance or other bond was formed what seems at times the most unconventional or smallest moments. These are the people that will be in the rocking chair next to you, sharing your golden years, reflecting upon both or your youths. To have a bond such as this is to have a wondrous, fruitful life. This is the type of person you cling to with every inch and being of your soul. There is no question about it.
