To the best R.A anyone could ask for,
During the summer before college, I was anxious for a few reasons. I couldn't wait and was quite excited to start my classes, explore a new city, decorate my dorm room, and get to know the two dozen girls I'd be residing with for the next 9 months. Most of all, however, I was anxious to meet the girl who would be watching over me, mentoring me, and guiding me. I probably worried about meeting you the most, to be honest.
I'm not going to lie to you, coming into all of this, I was super afraid that you were going to be a goodie-two-shoes or some sort of drill sergeant that was going to write me up if my music was over volume 10.
But it turns out you are one of the coolest chicks I know. You hold up the rules without trying to be my mom, but when my actual mom didn't answer my phone calls, you were always there to listen to me instead; no matter the problem.
You listened to my boy problems, my school problems, and all the funny stories about my day, or my wild nights with the rest of the girls on our floor.
Speaking of wild nights, you let us girls get away with some crazy things in the dorm. Some of our shenanigans you probably weren't even aware of, and probably don't want to know.
With all of our dumb ideas, we were bound to make some mistakes, but no matter what, you always looked out for us, cared for us, and trusted us.
Having a floor of mostly freshman was probably not the easiest task for you to handle. Hell, you're still a college student too, trying to balance your school and social life, as well as keep us under control. That must have been a huge learning experience for you, but you always seemed to have your life together. You knew what to say for every sticky situation we got ourselves into. You gave us almost every tip and trick in the book for surviving college, and I couldn't have gotten through this year without you.
You aren't just our R.A. You're our friend.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my freshman experience one to remember. You did an outstanding job.
Love,
Your (favorite) Resident
