Having grown up in Colorado myself I've learned there are a number of different personalities unique to the state. Each are different, down-to-earth people and some of the best life long friends a person could ask for. Here are my classifications of the 10 types of people I have met through my years there.
1. The Adventure Junkie
This is the person that only lives for all the experiences they can possibly have in the short span of human life and one of the most fun persons you will ever know. They are not afraid of injury or failure and will push you to try new things.
2. The Hippie
Need I go in depth? We were the first state to legalize it.
3. The Native
This is the person who was born here and will die here. They love the picturesque views so much even if they live elsewhere for an extended period, their heart is still with Colorado and they are sure to come back soon.
4. The Green Horn
5. The Cowboy (or girl)
This is exactly what you think. With many farms and ranches in CO we have many hunky cowboys and beautiful cowgirls. You’ll be able to spot them in no time with the telltale hats and usually frequenting gun expos.
6. The Part-timer
This is the person who, while they may love Colorado dearly, they only spend half the year here. Because of our harsh snow filled winters, many people only live in Colorado for spring and summer. Choosing to spend the rest of the year further west in Arizona or California.
7. The Mountaineer
This is the diehard "roughin’ it" type of person who stays year round and avoids conveniences found in populated areas. They tend to live by simple means right on the mountainside, fishing and hunting for all their main dietary needs.
8. The Entrepreneur
This is the opportunist, that while most likely not born here, came looking for a certain ahem… drug related business venture and was most likely successful.
9. The Know-it-all
Probably not what you’d expect, but it's not always said with bad connotations. This person knows all the best ski spots, campsites and hot springs that the state has to offer. You definitely want to ask them for advice before going on any trip or excursion.
10. The Nudist
This shouldn’t be that surprising, Coloradans are known for their exploratory nature and an exhibitionist streak is no exception. With multiple nudist communities don’t be surprised if you go for a hike one day and come across an encampment. Just remember, it's not like the movies...
