The ocean breeze, sand on your feet and the shinning sun — sounds like heaven to me. I could spend every day of my life lounging on a beach, watching my skin tan before my eyes. But unfortunately that isn't my reality, which is why an annual beach vacation is extremely necessary. From years of trial and error, I have learned what the beach essentials are that will ensure your day at the beach or vacation is perfect.
1. A hat
Whether it be a baseball cap or a floppy hat, you need one. It'll not only shade you from the too-harsh sun, but also will complete your beachy look.
2. Any kind of game or activity
A deck of cards, a snorkeling set, Kan Jam, a volleyball, anything to keep you occupied while you're not practically crisping alive or going for a quick dip in the amazingly blue water.
3. A book
I have found that while sitting at the beach for hours on end, I can finish a whole book, so to keep from being too bored, bring a couple.
4. Music

This is a necessity while at the beach. Bring headphones, a radio (preferably waterproof), whatever; it's just so calming and peaceful to hear the sound of music meshing with the swish of the waves as they meet the shore.
5. A cute summer dress
For artsy pictures of course! Were you even at the beach if you don't post an Instagram?
6. Snacks are a must!
While laying on the warm sand, squishing it beneath your toes, the munchies are going to arise. Ice cream is also never a bad idea.
7. Chic sunglasses
It may seem obvious, but you wouldn't believe how many people I've seen without sunglasses at the beach.
8. SPF ChapStick
Trust me, there's nothing worse than sunburned, chapped lips.
9. A GoPro
Any kind of camera really to capture the essence of the beautiful beach by which you currently reside, and the fun things you're going to do.
10. A friend, a family member, anyone you'll have an amazing time with on vacation
Surprise: 11. I thought it went without saying, but just a reminder to not forget a towel, sunscreen, beach umbrella, bathing suits ('cause in my book, you can never have too many), flip flops and plenty of water bottles.
Not only can beach vacations be some of the most relaxing, peaceful vacations, they can also be filled with outrageously fun moments both on land and in the sea. To make the most of your beach vacation, keep your beach bag packed full of the necessities and plenty of ideas to keep yourself ready to explore a beach and place you've never been before. Don't just tan and relax on your vacation, but be adventurous. Go snorkeling, surfing, cliff jumping to bring a little excitement into a vacation otherwise filled with rest and relaxation.
