Ever heard of the frequently used saying "Early bird gets the worm"? Well, being a night owl gets you some benefits as well.
According to the Huffington Post, there are some great pros about being a night owl. Although sleep is a big necessity, if you are one of the lucky ones that gets to sleep in, you are most likely to go to sleep later than the morning people. Here are some of the pros of being the great night owl you are!
1. It is known that night owls have a higher IQ
According to a study conducted by evolutionary scientists Satoshi Kanazawa from London School of Economics and Political Science. He found that a connection between intelligence and adaptive behaviors which are known as "evolutionary novel" which means they are different from our ancestors. His study concluded that "more intelligent children are more likely to grow up to be nocturnal adults who go to bed late and wake up late on both weekdays and weekend."
2. People who work at night happen to be more creative
This is a given since our filters in our brains turn off at around 11:30 p.m.-12 a.m. This filter in our brains is what keeps us focused on our duties and tasks. But once our filters turn off, our creative gray area widens and we think more and less logically.
3. They are not alone!
Mr. Barack Obama the president of the US is a night owl as well.
4. Night owls can stay mentally awake for more hours after waking up than early birds
In a 2009 study by the University of Leige in Belgium studied 15 extreme night owls and 16 extreme early birds. The researchers monitored their brain activity once the participants woke up and then 10.5 hours later. Afterwards they had found that after 10.5 hours of the early birds waking up they had a lower brain activity in areas in attention compared to night owls.
5. There's even a group called "The Night Owl Society" just for the creative thinkers!
The society was created by Von Glitschka who is an illustrative designer. He created the group for those who work better at night than the day just like him. He says "I know many other creatives like me, and this was an excuse to share our work online through a Facebook group and recognize each other".

6. We just so happen to score higher on intelligence tests
According to researchers from University of Madrid conducted a study last year that looked at sleeping patterns of about 1,000 teens. They found that night owls scored higher on the general intelligence. Although they also found that the morning birds also get better grades.
