The semester is over, and summer is here. Of course, with the semester ending, there come things you will miss about college. You will not be able just to head to your best friend's room and tell her about the latest movie you watched. No more late night trips to get food after midnight with your roommates. And say goodbye to scoping out the hotties on campus. The end of the semester is exciting because you are done with exams and the stress that has been building up for so long, but then you realize there is a lot you will miss out on when you head home. As you pack up all your stuff, you come across the free tee shirts you received from various school functions. You hold them in your hands and remember how much fun you had with your friends. The car or plane ride home begins to sadden you as you think about not being able to see your college friends for a while.

You are finally home and for a while, you do not even want to unpack. You do not look at your boxes for a few weeks. Your family questions why you are acting so different. You find yourself sharing your college stories with friends from high school. It is not easy leaving people who you saw everyday. Your campus begins to become your home, and you do not want to leave. You feel so comfortable in your space. It is hard going from having so much freedom, to coming home and having to answer to your parents. College is a huge adjustment, but coming home after it is over is an adjustment also. You start to wonder what everyone you saw everyday is up to. You finally get to eat home cooked meals, but you miss eating dinner with your roommates every night. You do miss your family, but you have adjusted well to being without them. You get a lot of questions about college. "How was your semester?" "What's your GPA?" "Any new boys in your life?" "What are your plans after college?" You are overwhelmed with all of the questions being thrown at you, and just want to relax and enjoy your summer.

Eventually, you will be on your way back to school. You pack up everything that was just in boxes a few months ago. Your car is filled with clothes, decorations, and all your school supplies you are going to be using once again. You have to say goodbye to your family and your stress-free summer. Let's be real, saying goodbye to your pets is really hard, though. Goodbye, home-cooked meals. Although, you are saying goodbye to a lot of things, you are saying hello to so much more. After waiting the whole summer to get back to school to make new memories with your friends, the time has finally come.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
